Clinical research supplier to offer telemicroscopy systems that improve pathology services in clinical trials
September 1, 2021 (Simi Valley, CA) - Andwin Scientific, the leading provider of outsourced clinical research supply chain and laboratory supplies management to global life science organizations, announces that it has entered into a distribution agreement with Mikroscan Technologies, innovator and manufacturer of live robotic microscopy and whole-slide imaging (WSI) systems for pathology.
Telemicroscopy, which is the live review of glass slides by a remote pathologist, has been elevating pathology services in hospitals to enable faster, more accurate diagnoses for nearly 20 years. By partnering with Mikroscan, Andwin can extend the powerful benefits of the technology to the critical pathology services required in all phases of a clinical trial.
“The success of a clinical trial in ensuring the safety of Investigational Medicinal Products (IMP) is crucial to the well-being of patients everywhere. Telemicroscopy technology from Mikroscan increases that rate of success. Trials that employ telemicroscopy accelerate patient enrollment, get faster and more accurate results, reduce expenses, and ultimately, reduce the risk of the study,” said Andrew Billimore, vice president of commercial operations at Andwin Scientific.
Mikroscan has been supporting CROs and pathologists specifically seeking the unique benefits of its L5 robotic microscope, most notably the ability to perform a traditional microscope evaluation of the original glass slide–the gold standard for peer reviewed studies. The L5 also provides pathologists with a standardized platform and color correction across global locations, ease-of-use, ease-of-deployment, and affordability.
“Andwin’s reputation as a reliable and trusted supplier for clinical trial studies, as well as their global relationships with trial sponsors, CROs, and central labs, make them an ideal partner to help us support the growing demand for our technology in the clinical trials space. We are excited to formalize this relationship and leverage both of our companies’ strongest assets,” said Martin Stuart, president and CEO of Mikroscan.
The partnership allows Andwin, which focuses on being a single source for study supplies and kitting requirements for clinical trials, to provide an even more comprehensive solution for the management of clinical trials. “We strive to make it easy for those running clinical trials to obtain the clinical trial materials they need, from A to Z, and are thrilled to add the Mikroscan system to our portfolio,” said Billimore.
